Summer is just around the corner, and with it comes a unique set of challenges for lash salons. The warmer weather, increased humidity, and longer daylight hours can all impact the way lash extensions adhere, last, and look. As a Lash Technician, it's essential to be prepared for these changes to ensure your clients leave your salon satisfied and with long-lasting, beautiful lashes. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to get your lash salon summer-ready.
First up is making sure you’ve got the right lash glue for the conditions you’re dealing with. Humidity and temperature can significantly affect the performance of your lash adhesive. In higher humidity, lash glue can dry faster, which can lead to poor retention, this is due to the glue drying considerably quicker immediately after you dip the lash extension and before you place it on the natural lash. It’s that quick. So, consider switching to a lash extension glue with a slower drying time to make sure the adhesive doesn’t cure before you get the chance to attach the lash extension. Don’t feel like you’re going a step back in your skill set by using a slower-drying lash glue, it’s very beneficial to know the ins and outs of lash adhesive in difficult situations.
The most important thing during the summer months is to maintain your salon conditions according to the lash glue you’re working with. We recommend having a digital hygrometer in your lash salon to monitor the temperature and humidity in the room. If you are struggling with humidity, purchasing a dehumidifier can also help reduce and then maintain the optimal conditions. If you’re working in high temperatures and you’re using an air conditioner that causes very dry humidity, a humidifier will increase the humidity, but, never place the humidifier directly next to your glue as direct contact with moisture can cause it to cure faster.
Aftercare is crucial all year round, but it is particularly important during the summer months. Inform your clients about the importance of looking after their lashes. Encourage them to avoid excessive sweating, swimming, or sunbathing immediately after their appointment, and recommend quality aftercare products, like our Foaming Lash Shampoo, to ensure their extensions last longer. You can always give out our Digital Aftercare Sheet for your clients at the end of their treatment so they can return for their infill with healthy lashes.
Your pretreatment routine is more crucial than ever. Using a high-quality lash cleanser that removes sweat and oils will support the longevity of your clients’ lash sets. Superbonder Lash Sealant is also a great product to use during this season as it instantly cures the glue at the end of the treatment which helps to protect the lashes against heat and moisture. It also adds elasticity to the glue to keep those lashes stronger for longer! Make sure your salon is stocked with products tailored for summer conditions, Black Friday sales can be the perfect time to stock up on your Pretreatment essentials, especially for the busy summer months.

With increased heat during summer, sweating is a completely natural outcome. It's crucial to maintain a hygienic workspace. Regularly clean and disinfect your tools, workstations, and salon to ensure the safety of both you and your clients. Opt for a lash bed cover and lash pillow cover which are easily wipeable between clients.
