We understand it can be tempting to cram in back-to-back lash appointments, filling your day with as many clients as possible. But what if we told you that skipping those little breaks between clients might actually be doing you more harm than good?
Here’s why giving yourself at least 10 minutes between each eyelash extensions client is crucial for both your wellbeing and the success of your lash business.
First up, let’s talk about movement. Even if you start each lash set with perfect posture, chances are you end up hunched over those tiny lashes by the end. Whether you’re applying classic eyelash extensions, volume lashes, or creating that perfect set of wispy lashes, sitting still for too long can take a toll on your body.
Taking a quick 10-minute breather to stretch and move around is key. Trust us: your back, shoulders, and neck will thank you at the end of the day—and the end of the week. Plus, looking after yourself is essential for having a long, healthy career in the lash extensions business.
This isn’t technically a break, but it’s a chance to get organised. Use those few minutes between clients to reset your lash station. Clear away any disposables, clean your lash tweezers, and make sure everything on your lash trolley is ready for the next client. If you’re using glue remover, ensure it’s handy for quick access. If the bin’s full, swap out the bag or at least tuck it out of sight. Wipe down all hard surfaces to keep things clean and fresh—no one likes a messy workspace!
If you’ve got a regular client coming in for classic lashes or volume lashes, you can even prep their eyelash extension kit in advance. Staying on top of your lashes and liquid products—including your eyelash primer, lash cleanser, and even those trusty under eye patches—helps things run smoothly.
Take time to step away from your workstation for a real break. Grab a drink and have a snack—this will keep your energy up and prevent your stomach from growling while you’re applying lash extensions.
Staying hydrated and fuelled up helps you stay alert so you’re not feeling drowsy halfway through a lash set. Plus, it’s good for your eyes to take a break from staring at those tiny details all day. Whether you’re focusing on wispy lashes or applying eyelid tape for precision, you need laser sharp focus, so giving your eyes a moment to rest will reduce strain and keep you feeling fresh.
Things don’t always go to plan. Sometimes, a client shows up with more lashes than expected, or you find out their lash set hasn’t held up as well as it should. Having that 10-15 minute gap between appointments means you’ve got a buffer for those unforeseen hiccups, without cutting into the next client's time.
If you need to grab more micropore tape, give their lashes an extra thorough cleanse, or deal with any other unexpected issue, you won’t feel rushed or flustered. Most importantly, you won’t keep your next client waiting, so everyone leaves happy!
At the end of the day, while those extra 15 minutes added together might seem like time you could be squeezing in another client, they’re essential for keeping things running smoothly. Those gaps help you stay relaxed, organised, and ensure your eyelash extensions appointments run like a dream.
