The Highs and Lows of Lash Tech Work: Headache Prevention Tips.

As Lash Technicians, we already deal with plenty of headaches, from last-minute client cancellations to realising you’ve run out of eyelash glue or glue remover. Physical headaches, though? That’s one problem you don’t need! Let’s dive into four reasons why you may be getting headaches and how to avoid them in your lash extensions business.

    1: Battling Glue Fumes

It’s no secret that eyelash extension glue releases fumes. While you can’t eliminate them entirely, there are ways to reduce their impact. Start by checking your room's temperature and humidity. Low humidity means your lash glue takes longer to cure, which leaves more fumes in the air for you and your clients to inhale.

Consider switching to a Jade Stone instead of a glue ring. While glue rings keep the eyelash glue close at hand, they also keep the fumes near your airways, leading to headaches. A jade stone holds the glue at a safer distance, reducing your exposure to fumes, and also helps maintain your glue’s freshness.

If you can’t open a window without it causing changes in humidity and temperature, invest in something like a Glamcor Flow. This handy tool quietly circulates air and blows the fumes away without taking up valuable floor space.

    2: Lighting Matters

Working on classic lashes, volume lashes, or creating a set of stunning wispy lashes requires precision, so good lighting is essential. Poor lighting forces you to strain your eyes, which often leads to headaches.

Invest in quality, adjustable lighting like Glamcor Lights. These provide the brightness you need to see every detail—whether you’re applying classic eyelash extensions or prepping under eye patches. Proper lighting reduces eye strain and protects your eyesight in the long run. Plus, your lash photos will look even more professional!

3: Align Your Body, Avoid Pain

It’s easy to forget how much poor posture can contribute to headaches. As you work on clients, whether you’re attaching natural eyelash extensions or carefully placing eyelid tape, sitting in uncomfortable positions can put tension on your neck, shoulders, and back—leading to headaches.

Prevent this by ensuring your lash bed and chair are adjustable to suit your comfort. A height-adjustable lash bed is ideal, allowing you to position your client at the perfect height without overextending yourself. Add a good lash pillow to help your client stay comfortable while making it easier for you to work.

Think about your own comfort too. If you use a bed cover, make sure it’s designed with a cutout for your legs so you can sit close to your client without awkward positioning.

Taking short breaks to stretch and move around between appointments can also do wonders for your posture and prevent headaches.

    4: Water: The Simple Solution

We all know that dehydration is a common cause of headaches, fatigue, and loss of focus. While you’re busy working on eyelash extensions, make sure you’re staying hydrated by keeping a bottle of water nearby—preferably one with a lid to avoid spills on your eyelash extension kit! Sipping water throughout the day can keep those pesky headaches at bay.

At the end of a long day it’s normal to feel drained, especially when you've been perfecting those classic lashes or volume lashes. However, by tweaking your routine and setup—whether it’s upgrading your lighting, switching to a full lash pretreatment routine, or improving your posture—you can reduce headaches and feel more refreshed. Small changes can make a big difference in how you feel at the end of the day!
