Keeping Your Supplies Stocked Up As Lash Technician

It might seem simple, just keep extra stock on hand, right? But as many of us have learned the hard way, running a business requires more than just a good memory and a 'buy-as-you-need' approach. If you're still relying on guesswork and last minute shopping for your lash supplies, it's time for a change.

Imagine it's a busy week, and you think you've got enough lash glue. You used it last Friday, and it seemed fine, probably enough for a couple more days. You decide to order more later. But then, disaster strikes during your next session: the glue is unusable, stringy, or won't come out at all.

What's next? Panic order and hope it arrives tomorrow? Even then, you're not sure what time it'll come, and you might end up rescheduling clients for 2-3 days, not an ideal situation at all. So, how can you avoid these stockout crises?

Tip 1 - Keep Track of Inventory

Stay constantly aware of what you have. How much glue do you use in a month? How many sets of lashes? Do you have enough pretreatment products for the week? Despite our best efforts with express shipping, delays can happen.

It's wise to store your liquids properly—out of direct sunlight and well-sealed (especially the glue). Make it a routine to quickly check your inventory whenever you open your storage area. How many bottles are there? Which are opened, and how long will they last?

Tip 2 - Label Your Liquids

Knowing when you opened a product that expires—like your glue—is crucial. Our eyelash extension glues have a 6-month shelf life from production (this date is printed on both the bottle and the aluminium pouch), and once opened, they should be used within 2 months.

When you open a new glue bottle, stick a label on it with a date—either the date you opened it or when it needs replacing. Clear labelling helps prevent mishaps and keeps your operations smooth.

Tip 3 - Plan Your Purchases

Once you're familiar with your usage rates, dedicate an hour or two each month to order supplies. Keep a running list in a spreadsheet or the back of your diary, and refer to it when placing orders.

To streamline your stock management, consider subscribing to our glue service. You can have your favourite glue delivered every 2, 4, or 6 weeks, automatically and at a 15% discount!

    Tip 4 - Avoid Overstocking

Planning is crucial, but overstocking can be as problematic as running short. Only order what you need. Excess stock not only wastes money but can also compromise your service quality and reputation if products expire unused.

By implementing these strategies, you can ensure that running out of essential supplies never disrupts your service or stresses you out again. Get ahead with a proactive stocking strategy and focus on what you do best—creating stunning lash looks for your clients.
