Classic Lashes —also called single lashes— are exactly that: individual eyelash extensions applied one by one to each individual natural lash. Depending on how many natural lashes your client has and the thickness of the classic lashes you choose, the final look can range from subtle and natural to bold and glamorous. So, how do you choose the right lashes for classic eyelash extensions? How long does it take to apply a set? And are hybrid lashes a better option? Let’s dive in…
This might seem like a simple question, but there’s a bit to consider. We’ve got a detailed blog that breaks down our lash extensions collections, but here’s a quick overview to keep it all in one spot for you:
Chelsea Lashes: Chelsea lashes are our original range—the quintessential classic lashes. They have a semi-matte finish, perfect for clients after a more natural look.
Mayfair Lashes: Introduced in 2017, Mayfair lashes have a bold, shiny finish, adding a bit of drama even to classic lash sets. This collection also includes black brown lashes for a softer vibe, plus a variety of coloured lashes for clients who like to mix things up!
Matt Flat Lashes: As the name suggests, these lashes have a matte finish and a flat shape. Flat lashes are created by fusing two tiny lashes together to form one flat classic lash. Since these are lighter than regular classic lashes of the same thickness, they’re perfect for clients with finer natural lashes who want a darker look. They also feature a split tip for added drama!
Once you’ve chosen the type of classic eyelash extensions you want, it’s time to think about thickness:
Another seemingly simple question, but the answer depends! For an experienced technician working on around 120 natural lashes per eye (the average number is 80-150), a set of classic lashes might take around an hour and a half, including pretreatment, mapping, and checking for stickies.
If you’re a beginner Lash Tech, it’s completely normal for it to take longer. Don’t stress if your timings differ from others—focus on perfecting your technique, and speed will naturally come as you build your skills and confidence.
It really depends on your client and what they’re after. If your client has gaps in their natural lashes but wants a classic lash set, a hybrid set might be a better option because you can fill in those gaps with small fans. Ideally, using 0.10 lashes throughout will help the fans blend seamlessly with the classic lashes, making it look like a full set until you look up close.
The truth is, whether hybrid lashes are better than classic lashes is totally subjective. They’re different treatments that give different looks—it’s like asking if yellow is better than purple. It all depends on who you ask and what the goal is.
There’s no denying that Classic Eyelash Extensions have stood the test of time in the lash extensions world, and we believe they’ll never go out of style!
